Quality Manager (Construction) – London £70,000 – £80,000 + package

Our client is a leading multidisciplinary main contractor based in North London. Group turnover is approaching £1b with the building department currently consisting of c5%. The building division is centrefold in the company’s ambitious growth plan with the division’s turnover forecast to quadruple to in the next 5 years.

The building division have multiple mixed-use projects across London predominantly mid and high rise, and a need for a Quality Manager has now arisen to implement, check and ensure build standards and conformity on these projects.

This is a key Quality Assurance role working on prestigious new build residential projects up to £50 million in London.

This is a departmental role rather than based on a singular project and the successful individual will be instrumental in implementing strategy.

As Quality Manager you will support site operations/delivery teams to aim for a zero defect, snag free handover and customer satisfaction by monitoring, inspecting and reporting on practices and procedures to ensure they match required standards and specification. This will be in line with the Company QA processes and industry best practice. Working closely with site teams, the successful individual will monitor quality through each phase of construction against set industry benchmarks and quality standards.

You will:

  • To Report to the Lead Design Manager
  • To participate and promote best practice with the design team members through workshops, one to ones and design team meetings.
  • To assist in developing the Inspection Testing Plan process and develop Hold Points/Quality Checklists
  • To advise and promote value engineering opportunities
  • Organise CPD/courses for the internal team.
  • To advise on buildability and best practice
  • To provide Quality/Technical Bulletins
  • Mentor and develop staff to ensure that they understand the importance of Quality
  • Ensure management controls are in place so that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.
  • Manage, collate and review Quality statistics in a timely manner and submit to the lead design manager for reporting purposes.
  • Review Quality statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement Quality campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the Lead Design Manager/Operations Management / Heads of Engineering.
  • Manage and where required be involved in the preparation and review of Quality documents including those of 3rd parties.
  • Manage and carry out regular inspections / audits of sites to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and other stated requirements.
  • Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Company procedures and Contract Requirements.
  • Undertake internal and external audits as required.
  • Provide input and review of pre-qualification, tender and Quality award submissions.
  • Ensuring the business unit central standard forms library has the latest correct quality templates/documents
  • To participate and promote best practice with the design team members through workshops, one to ones and design team meetings.
  • Providing support and assistance with the Bid/Work winning teams.
  • To attend if requested client interviews
  • Reviewing the tender information for building control and building warranty compliance
  • Identifying any compliance concerns

You will have:

  • 5 or more years relevant experience either within building control or with a contractor, preferably on building projects
  • Good working knowledge of ISO9001 and systems
